Frequently Asked Questions For Buying a Home in San Miguel de Allende
Can I create a Mexican Power of Attorney once I’ve flown back home to the U.S.?
Yes you can, although the process is lengthier, more expensive, and considerably more trouble than creating one while you are in San Miguel. I encourage clients to invest the $400 USD for a POA while they are still physically present in San Miguel. If you choose to create a POA once you’ve returned home, you must also obtain an Apostille from your Secretary of State, both expensive and time consuming, and then ship the original Apostilled document via DHL back to the Notario here in San Miguel.
