Frequently Asked Questions For Lifestyle in San Miguel de Allende
I hear there are natural hot springs in San Miguel, yes? Sounds good, but I just love being around water in general and San Miguel is a mountain desert—how do I get my water fix?

Yes, the highway corridor north of San Miguel boasts several hot springs, the most popular of which is probably La Gruta. All offer day passes very affordably.., and La Gruta will serve food & drinks to your chaise lounge, just like a resort. Speaking of which, most all the large hotels in San Miguel sell day passes—especially Monday through Thursday—for a luxurious day by the pool, and for many a portion of the day-pass fee is a consumption charge applied to food & beverage charges. The gated community of Los Senderos has a Beach & Spa club with tons of imported beach sand for a day on the beach with gourmet drinks and food, and you can rent a cabana or chaise lounge and enjoy the natural pool or paddle board on the lake. And while our large lake—called The Presa—is not generally supportive of water activities, there has historically been a kayak club. Finally, if nothing but the real ocean will do, the closest beach areas by driving—Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo and Troncones—are a short 5-hour drive, or Puerto Vallarta is a 55-minute flight. Or I can just sell you a home with a swimming pool!
