Frequently Asked Questions For Lifestyle in San Miguel de Allende
I know I can get super fresh fruits & veggies in San Miguel, but we like a little caviar on our eggs benedict in the morning and love our crawfish boils! Can we get gourmet food products in San Miguel de Allende?
Can you ever! Our newest gourmet market—as of this writing in 2025, another is slated to open soon—is called City Market, ironically owned by… CostCo of Mexico but specializing in a wider array of gourmet food products than the competing La Comer, also an excellent superstore.
Americans liken it to a Whole Foods—pre-Amazon ownership—on steroids, where live Maine lobster can be purchased, the oil & vinegar section is 80-feet long, the chocolate section is the size of an apartment, a private wine cellar can host tastings for 20, and you can buy your Reidel stemware along with your Creuset cookware. There are also three restaurants, a coffee shop and a gelateria in the grocery store, a two-hour excursion in City Market is not uncommon!
