There are a multitude of local festivals that are highly entertaining and enriching, even
educational. There are a multitude of online resources that list them—see my News & Event Resources page…—but a few examples include the Feria de la Candelaria for garden lovers; the Dia de los Locos parade—a bit like Mardi Gras on foot—La Alborada, a multi-day event in September celebrating Saint Michael (our patron saint); Dia de los Muertos, again a multi-day event that has now combined fun events like the La Calaca Festival and Catrina parade with the more respectful altars and cemetery visits; June’s La Fiesta de San Antonio honoring Saint Anthony of Padua; September’s Fiesta de San Miguel which is organized around Mexico’s Independence Day…well, shall I go on?
