The rules applying to foreign and used vehicles change almost annually. When I first moved here in 2009, I could not only bring in my old car.., I could keep the old U.S. license plates on it as long as I wanted. That allowance changed many years ago, and now it is extremely difficult to “nationalize” (i.e., obtain Mexican license plates) any non-NAFTA car, and even then there are restrictions that us Realtors don’t keep track of.
