Frequently Asked Questions For Lifestyle in San Miguel de Allende
Um, my friends even think I should rinse my toothbrush with only Tequila in San Miguel! Is the water safe anywhere in San Miguel, or the ice?

Your friends sound a little too fond of margaritas! All restaurants that serve water in a glass will be serving filtered water, although many will try to charge you for a private bottle of water.., just ask for “agua de garrafón” or “agua filtrada” if you don’t want to pay for a bottle. And if the dining establishment offers tables and chairs, the ice is always filtered. Large hotels will have filtered water in the bathrooms, but will always offer bottled water also for untrusting souls. If renting, be sure to ask your host about the water—many homes here, but not all, have whole-house filtration systems that provide drinkable water, some even have reverse osmosis filtration at the kitchen sink, look for that small faucet to the side. We’re in the 21 st Century here, save your tequila for Happy Hour!
